Apple has postponed the release of the next version of its iPhone Air, which was previously anticipated in the fall of 2026. The decision comes in response to sales for the current model being weaker than the company had originally expected. The iPhone Air was introduced in 2025 as a thinner and lighter alternative in the iPhone lineup, which involved some compromises on battery size and camera features. Following the weaker demand, Apple has significantly scaled back production of the current iPhone Air and has informed its suppliers that a successor is not on the immediate development schedule. Key manufacturing partners are reportedly halting or dismantling production lines for the device. While the 2026 release is shelved, there is a possibility that the iPhone Air line could be revived with a significant redesign for a potential launch in the spring of 2027.
