Apple is significantly reducing production of its recently launched iPhone Air, with plans to cut manufacturing orders to near "end of production" levels starting in November due to weak global demand. This move comes after the ultra-thin model, which was intended to replace the 'Plus' series, received a lukewarm reception outside of China. The iPhone Air originally accounted for about 10% to 15% of the iPhone 17 production plans. Despite the production cut for the iPhone Air, the overall sales forecast for the iPhone 17 lineup remains robust. Apple is reportedly increasing production orders for the standard iPhone 17 and the iPhone 17 Pro models to compensate for the Air's weak performance. The company is maintaining its total production forecast of 85 million to 90 million units for the entire iPhone 17 line, indicating confidence in the other models to offset the shortfall from the iPhone Air.
