French defense technology firm Harmattan AI has raised $200 million in a Series B funding round, reaching a valuation of $1.4 billion and becoming a defense 'unicorn'. The round was led by Dassault Aviation, the French manufacturer of the Rafale fighter jet, as part of a strategic partnership to integrate AI into future combat air systems.
The investment will be used to scale the manufacturing of Harmattan AI's autonomous systems, which include drones and electronic warfare platforms. The Paris-based company, founded in 2024, has already secured contracts with the French and UK Ministries of Defence. The partnership aims to embed Harmattan's AI capabilities into future Dassault aircraft, including the Rafale F5 standard.
