Berkshire Hathaway has set the annual salary for new Chief Executive Officer Greg Abel at $25 million. This figure was disclosed in a recent regulatory filing.
This compensation marks a significant departure from the pay of his predecessor. Iconic former CEO Warren Buffett received an annual salary of $100,000 for decades.
The new package represents an increase from Abel's previous earnings. In 2024, as Vice Chairman of Non-Insurance Operations, he received total compensation of approximately $21 million.
Abel officially assumed the CEO role on January 1, 2026. Buffett stepped down as CEO at the end of 2025 but continues to serve as the chairman of the board.
