Coinbase is suspending its local fiat operations in Argentina, less than a year after the formal launch in the country.

Effective January 31, 2026, users can no longer buy or sell the stablecoin USDC using Argentine pesos. Furthermore, users cannot withdraw funds to local bank accounts after this date. Coinbase confirmed that all crypto-to-crypto activities, including trading and sending, remain operational, and customer funds are unaffected.

Coinbase described the withdrawal as a "thoughtful pause" following a review of local market performance. The exchange stated the halt allows it to reassess strategy to develop a more sustainable product. Coinbase emphasized this is not a permanent exit, clarifying its intention to revive operations in the future. Latin America remains a key focus for the company.
