Circle Internet Group has updated its terms of service to explicitly state that its stablecoin, USDC, can be used for the lawful purchase and sale of firearms. This change comes after public scrutiny, highlighted by organizations like the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), of a previous clause that seemed to ban such transactions. A Circle representative confirmed the clarification to the NSSF, stating the company has not and will not deny the use of USDC for legally permissible firearm transactions. The move is seen as a reversal of a policy that was viewed as discriminatory against the lawful exercise of Second Amendment rights and follows similar recent shifts by other major financial institutions.
