Chevron and Helleniq Energy will sign contracts with the Greek state on February 16, 2026. The agreement covers hydrocarbon exploration in four offshore blocks. Operations will focus on areas south of the Peloponnese and Crete.

These regions possess high geological interest. The move launches a new cycle of hydrocarbon exploration for Greece.

The consortium will begin seismic surveys following parliamentary ratification. Initial geophysical surveys will commence in 2026 and early 2027. These surveys evaluate geological structures for potential future drilling.
