Figma expanded its services in India, introducing local data hosting capabilities and a new suite of governance tools for enterprise clients. The data residency option launches in the first quarter of 2026. This feature aims to attract companies in regulated sectors like finance and healthcare by allowing them to store data within the country. This strategic move follows the recent opening of an office in Bengaluru and recognizes India as Figma's second-largest active user base globally. The new 'Governance+' suite provides organizations with enhanced data management and access controls to support compliance requirements. Major Indian companies, including Axis Bank's Freecharge and IDFC First Bank, are slated to be among the first to test the local file hosting.
