Police in Yantai, China, arrested 12 individuals linked to an organized online operation. Authorities seized approximately $139,000 from the group, which is accused of creating and disseminating harmful content targeting domestic automakers.
The arrests followed complaints filed earlier this year by Li Auto, Xiaomi, and a Huawei-backed alliance. These firms reported a coordinated surge of damaging online content that began in July.
Investigators analyzed more than 80,000 pieces of online information. The probe identified numerous negative articles originating from accounts resembling paid influence groups.
Li Auto’s legal department confirmed the company and its owners were targeted with fabricated information concerning personal data, business operations, and product quality. The suspects now face legal measures. Police stated the action was necessary to curb illegal online activities disrupting market order.
