Mastercard and the Commercial Bank of Ceylon launched Sri Lanka's first Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) capability for online payments.
The feature allows international customers to pay Sri Lankan merchants in their home currency at checkout. This capability is enabled via the Mastercard Payment Gateway Services (MPGS) platform.
The initiative aims to improve the online shopping experience for foreign travelers and boost tourism-related businesses. By displaying the final transaction amount in the cardholder’s currency, the system provides greater transparency and eliminates uncertainty from fluctuating exchange rates.
Global DCC provider FEXCO delivered the solution in collaboration with the banks. Euronet Worldwide provides infrastructure support.
