Netflix is significantly expanding its content library by entering the video podcast market, securing exclusive multi-year deals with iHeartMedia and Barstool Sports. This move positions Netflix as a direct competitor to YouTube for video podcast viewership. The agreements will bring over 30 popular shows, including "Pardon My Take," "The Breakfast Club," and "My Favorite Murder," exclusively to the streaming platform in video format starting in early 2026.
The strategy aims to increase user retention and viewing hours by offering a new form of content akin to "daytime talk shows." While the video versions of these podcasts will be exclusive to Netflix, the audio-only formats will remain available on other platforms.
