Rockwell Automation announced it is integrating NVIDIA's Nemotron Nano small language model (SLM) into its industrial automation software, such as FactoryTalk Design Studio. This collaboration brings generative AI directly to the industrial edge, aiming to enhance real-time intelligence for manufacturing and industrial teams. The purpose-built AI model is designed to operate in environments with limited space and power, including on HMI panels and in secure, air-gapped systems on factory floors. The partnership focuses on improving workflows across design, development, production, and maintenance by providing instant, responsive AI-driven insights without relying on the cloud.
