The Taipei City Government is in a dispute with Shin Kong Life Insurance Co. over the surface rights for the land where NVIDIA plans to build its Taiwanese headquarters in the Beitou Shilin Science Park. The city government has urged Shin Kong Life to accept a compensation agreement to relinquish the rights to the plots. NVIDIA has set a deadline of October 24 for the matter to be resolved, after which they will request alternative sites. Taipei's mayor has expressed confidence in reaching an agreement with Shin Kong Life before the deadline.
