Taiwanese prosecutors filed additional indictments against the Taiwan unit of Tokyo Electron and three individuals. The charges relate to the alleged theft of trade secrets from Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC).

The new charges, stemming from an ongoing investigation, include allegations of illegally reproducing core trade secrets and destroying evidence. Prosecutors brought the case under Taiwan's National Security Act and the Trade Secrets Act after investigators reportedly found TSMC trade secrets stored within the unit's cloud system.

The three individuals charged include two former TSMC employees and one former Tokyo Electron Taiwan employee. Prosecutors are seeking prison terms for the individuals and an additional fine levied against Tokyo Electron's Taiwan unit.
