Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) licensed its high-voltage and low-voltage Gallium Nitride (GaN) process technologies to Vanguard International Semiconductor (VIS). The deal was announced on January 29. VIS will utilize TSMC's 650V and 80V GaN process technologies to boost its power device development.

The collaboration enhances VIS's manufacturing capabilities in the specialty IC foundry sector. For TSMC, the agreement is a strategic move to propagate its GaN technology platform. This move strengthens TSMC's influence in the growing power semiconductor market.
