United Airlines announced that Economy cabin customers can now pre-order fresh meals, including items like burgers and sandwiches. Customers must use the airline’s website or mobile app for ordering.

This service applies to flights exceeding 1,190 miles. The routes cover the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean. The initiative expands a program previously successful in premium cabins.

United aims to provide greater customer choice and ensure meal availability while improving catering efficiency. The airline anticipates this change will significantly reduce food waste, potentially cutting more than 100,000 pounds annually. Effective March 1, pre-ordering becomes the exclusive method for purchasing fresh entrees in the Economy cabin.
