United Airlines has implemented previously announced changes to its MileagePlus loyalty program, effective January 1, 2026.
The updates primarily benefit high-tier members. Premier 1K members and those above can now earn increased PlusPoints. This earning is tied to spending on eligible United credit cards. UAL intends this change to increase reward opportunities for its most loyal customers.
Qualification requirements for all Premier status tiers remain consistent. The necessary Premier Qualifying Points (PQP) and Premier Qualifying Flights (PQF) needed are the same as the 2025 requirements. The market reaction has not been significant, as the updates were announced in late 2025 and were expected.
