Walmart announced a significant investment in its pharmacy staff. The company aims to strengthen its position in the competitive healthcare sector. Walmart is elevating 3,000 pharmacy technicians to a new 'pharmacy operations team lead' position.

This move increases the average hourly wage for these new roles to $28. Potential earnings for the team leads reach up to $42 per hour.

The initiative also boosts the pay range for all pharmacy technicians. Technicians now have the potential to earn up to $40.50 an hour. Walmart uses this strategic decision to attract and retain qualified staff as it expands its health and wellness services. The move positions Walmart to better compete with rivals CVS and Amazon in the pharmacy business.
