CATL expects its sodium-ion battery costs to reach parity with lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries by the end of 2026. Mass-production lines for these batteries are now fully operational. The company anticipates further cost reductions as technology and supply chains mature.
Sodium-ion technology targets large-scale applications including AI data centers and low-temperature energy storage. CATL begins China deliveries of its TENER Sodium Energy Storage System in September. Global shipments are scheduled to start within one year. The company has secured major supply agreements across Europe.
