Apple Inc. secured a victory in Australia's Federal Court, dismissing patent infringement claims brought by CPC Patent Technologies Pty Ltd. The lawsuit alleged that Apple's biometric security systems, specifically Touch ID and Face ID, infringed CPC's intellectual property.
The court sided with Apple, finding that the devices did not fall within any of the asserted claims. This ruling covered 70 different Apple devices that utilize the security features.
The judgment absolves Apple of infringement in this specific case. However, CPC Patent Technologies has already appealed the decision. A future hearing is scheduled for March 2026.
