The U.S. Department of Commerce eased export controls for the United Arab Emirates on Friday.

The policy change allows license-free exports of advanced computing items, including AI chips and servers. Eligible entities include the UAE government, G42, Core42, and the local operations of Apple, Amazon, Meta, Microsoft, and xAI.

The U.S. now recognizes the UAE as a Major Defense Partner for its role in supporting national security interests. This reclassification moves the UAE to a less restrictive country grouping to facilitate trade in military and dual-use technologies.
