On May 29, 2026, AbbVie received European Commission authorization. This expands the label for its cancer drug, VENCLYXTO (venetoclax). The approval covers the drug's use in combination with other oral medications. It targets adult patients with previously untreated chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL).
The expanded approval includes VENCLYXTO in combination with ibrutinib. It also includes VENCLYXTO in combination with acalabrutinib.
These all-oral, fixed-duration regimens provide new chemotherapy-free options for first-line CLL treatment. They offer the potential for treatment-free intervals. The authorization applies in all European Union member states. It also applies in Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway.
