Abbott launched Libre Assist, a new feature integrated into its Libre mobile app. The tool is designed to help people with diabetes understand the potential glucose impact of food choices before consumption. Libre Assist utilizes generative AI to provide users with in-the-moment guidance.
Users input meal data by snapping a photo or entering text. The system then delivers a color-coded prediction of the meal’s likely glucose impact, along with personalized management tips. This predictive capability contrasts sharply with traditional food logging apps, which only offer post-facto feedback.
Abbott unveiled Libre Assist on January 5, 2026, coinciding with the CES® 2026 conference. The feature will be available at no additional cost. Access is limited to users of the FreeStyle Libre continuous glucose monitoring systems.
