Adobe announced its intention to acquire Topaz Labs, a developer of Emmy Award-winning AI technology for image and video enhancement. The transaction is scheduled to close in the second half of 2026, pending regulatory approval.
Adobe will integrate Topaz Labs’ AI models into Creative Cloud, Firefly, and Firefly Services. These tools provide professional capabilities for upscaling, noise reduction, and sharpening visual content. The technology also supports archival restoration and the blending of AI-generated media with traditional footage.
The acquisition serves as a strategic move to counter competition from AI-native editing tools. Topaz Labs CEO Eric Yang will continue to lead the team. Topaz Labs products will remain available as standalone offerings.
