Canva launched Magic Layers, a proprietary AI tool that transforms static and AI-generated images into multi-layered, editable projects. The software automatically identifies and separates elements like text, objects, and backgrounds into individual layers for manipulation within the Canva editor.
This technology addresses a major limitation of generative AI, which typically produces uneditable flat files. The tool streamlines design workflows by automating tasks that previously required professional software such as Adobe Photoshop.
Magic Layers is currently available in public beta for users in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia.
