Autodesk has announced a $200 million strategic investment in World Labs, an artificial intelligence startup co-founded by AI pioneer Fei-Fei Li. World Labs specializes in generating 3D world models from various inputs including text and images.
The partnership will integrate World Labs' spatial intelligence technology into Autodesk's 3D creative software portfolio, specifically Maya and 3ds Max. This integration aims to accelerate the creation of complex virtual environments.
The collaboration initially targets the media and entertainment sector. This investment positions Autodesk to compete with rivals developing generative AI for creative tools. World Labs has previously secured funding from other major technology players, reflecting high industry interest in its technology.
