AMD’s venture arm joined a $79 million funding extension for Japanese self-driving startup Turing Inc. This investment values the company at approximately $600 million. Mitsubishi Corporation and Tokyo Electron Device also participated in the funding round.
Turing is adopting AMD’s AI accelerator GPUs to diversify its hardware supply and lower costs. The startup previously relied exclusively on Nvidia hardware. AMD chips now power 10% of Turing’s AI training processes.
The capital will accelerate development of autonomous driving software and robotaxis. Turing targets a commercial market launch as early as 2028.
