AMD and AI startup Anthropic signed a partnership valued in the tens of billions of dollars. This agreement strengthens AMD’s competitive position against market leader Nvidia.
AMD will invest up to $5 billion in Anthropic as part of the deal. Anthropic committed to purchasing up to 2 gigawatts of computing power.
Anthropic will purchase AMD’s next-generation Instinct MI450 AI chips. Deliveries for the hardware will begin in the first half of 2027.
The deal establishes Anthropic as a major customer alongside Meta and OpenAI. Anthropic will use its Claude AI models to help enhance AMD’s chip technology.
