OpenAI and the Tata Group have partnered to develop a massive AI data center in India. The project aims to scale to a total capacity of 1 gigawatt. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) will execute the build-out to integrate OpenAI technologies across Tata’s subsidiaries and TCS’s global client base.

This development follows AMD’s recent expansion of its collaboration with TCS. AMD is currently deploying its Helios AI data center architecture across the region. This move serves as a strategic effort to challenge Nvidia’s existing market dominance.

These successive announcements underscore the intensifying competition for India's burgeoning AI infrastructure. Both AMD and Nvidia are now vying to provide the foundational hardware for the country. India has become a primary battleground for global AI market share.
