Reports from December 26, 2025, indicate Samsung plans to develop its own in-house Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) by 2027. This proprietary GPU targets integration into Samsung’s Exynos mobile processors.

The strategic shift aims to give Samsung greater control over the graphics and artificial intelligence performance of its mobile devices. This move reduces reliance on AMD's Radeon GPU architecture, which currently powers Exynos chips.

The transition will be gradual. The upcoming Exynos 2600 chip, slated for the Galaxy S26, will still utilize AMD’s architecture but feature a Samsung-developed design.

The long-term plan targets the Exynos 2800 processor in 2027 for a completely proprietary GPU. While the immediate financial impact on AMD remains unclear, the development signals a significant change in a key partnership for AMD’s mobile graphics technology.
