Amazon is eliminating an additional 84 positions in Washington state. The affected roles include engineers and program managers. This action is separate from the company's previously announced global corporate workforce reduction of 14,000.
Amazon characterized these cuts as part of a routine organizational review process within individual business units. A company spokesperson noted that Amazon regularly evaluates its organizational structure and makes adjustments accordingly.
The company disclosed this latest round of layoffs in a filing with the state government under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act. Affected employees will receive 90 days of pay and benefits.
