Amazon has advanced its satellite internet initiative, now named Amazon Leo (formerly Project Kuiper), by unveiling a new enterprise-grade 'Ultra' antenna. This new terminal is capable of delivering download speeds of up to 1 Gbps and upload speeds of up to 400 Mbps, designed for demanding environments. The announcement coincides with the launch of an enterprise preview program, allowing select businesses in various sectors like energy, transportation, and manufacturing to test the service before a wider rollout expected next year. This initiative positions Amazon to compete in the satellite internet market, targeting areas that lack reliable connectivity. The service integrates with Amazon Web Services (AWS) for secure cloud connectivity. With over 150 satellites currently in low Earth orbit, Amazon is gathering feedback from partners such as JetBlue and Crane Worldwide Logistics to refine its offerings ahead of a full commercial launch.
