Amazon announced Sunday it is discontinuing plans for commercial drone delivery in Italy. This decision follows initial tests completed one year ago in the town of San Salvo.
In a statement, Amazon explained that Italy's broader business regulatory framework does not align with the program’s long-term goals. The company noted it had made good progress with Italian aerospace regulators.
Italy's civil aviation authority, ENAC, described the move as "unexpected." ENAC suggested the decision links to Amazon’s internal policies and "recent financial events involving the Group."
