Amazon's Ring is expanding its AI-powered "Search Party for Dogs" feature, making it available to anyone in the U.S. through the Ring app, even those who do not own Ring hardware. Previously exclusive to Ring device owners, this update allows any user to post a missing dog alert, which then utilizes a network of nearby outdoor Ring cameras to help locate the pet.

The system uses AI to scan video footage for dogs that match the description of the missing pet. If a potential match is found, the Ring camera owner receives an alert and can choose whether to share the relevant video clips with the dog's owner. This expansion is part of a broader strategy to position Ring as a community safety platform beyond just hardware, a move highlighted by a planned Super Bowl ad for the feature.
