Applied Digital signed an electric service agreement with Montana-Dakota Utilities to power its North Dakota AI Factory. Montana-Dakota Utilities operates as a subsidiary of MDU Resources Group. The agreement provides the Polaris Forge 3 campus with up to 430 megawatts of electricity.

This capacity supports high-density artificial intelligence and machine learning workloads. Initial operations at the site are scheduled to begin in August 2027.

Applied Digital previously secured a 15-year lease for the facility with a U.S.-based hyperscaler. The project expects to create approximately 200 full-time jobs. The North Dakota Public Service Commission must still approve the agreement.
