AppLovin faces renewed scrutiny following reports that former executives are the primary funders of the American Priorities political action committee (PAC).
Former employees Omer Hasan and Mohammad Waqas Javed, alongside a third former staffer, reportedly contributed millions to the PAC. The committee has actively participated in recent congressional primaries.
The donations draw fresh attention to AppLovin’s historical and current connections to China. Regulators previously blocked a 2016 acquisition of the company by a Chinese state-backed firm.
Major shareholder Hao Tang continues to hold a significant ownership stake in the firm. Reports from 2026 linked Tang to a collapsed Chinese financial platform and money laundering allegations.
