SK Hynix Inc. will purchase 11.95 trillion won ($7.97 billion) of extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography scanners from ASML Holding NV. The company expects to complete the equipment acquisition by the end of December 2027.
The investment addresses surging global demand for high-bandwidth memory (HBM) and DRAM chips used in artificial intelligence. This move accelerates SK Hynix's transition to its next-generation 1c DRAM manufacturing process.
The expanded capacity strengthens the company's competitive position against rivals such as Samsung.
