Aurora Innovation Inc. enabled its driverless trucks to operate a 1,000-mile route between Fort Worth, Texas, and Phoenix, Arizona. This distance exceeds the legal driving limits for humans under federal Hours of Service regulations. CEO Chris Urmson defined the milestone as the beginning of the era of superhuman logistics.

The expansion triples Aurora’s driverless network across the U.S. Sun Belt. The company now operates 10 autonomous routes. New software updates allow the autonomous vehicles to operate in rain and fog.

Aurora plans to have more than 200 driverless trucks in operation by the end of 2026. The company expects these capabilities to increase asset utilization for its customers.
