AeroVironment unveiled the TOM 50 RE unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) at the Eurosatory 2026 defense exhibition in Paris. The robot was developed by Telerob, a German subsidiary acquired by AeroVironment in 2021.
The launch marks a strategic expansion from aerial drones into the terrestrial robotics sector. The backpackable robot weighs less than 10 kilograms (22 pounds) for single-operator deployment.
It performs reconnaissance, mapping, and explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) in GPS-denied environments like buildings or tunnels.
