The European Commission is reviewing an antitrust complaint against Broadcom regarding its VMware licensing practices. CISPE, a European cloud lobby group including Amazon Web Services, filed the formal grievance.

The group alleges that Broadcom’s licensing changes and the termination of its cloud service provider program violate EU competition rules. These shifts could potentially force numerous European cloud providers out of the market.

Broadcom strongly denies the allegations and describes them as a misrepresentation of market realities. A company spokesperson stated Broadcom remains committed to supporting European partners in competing against global hyperscalers.

The European Commission confirmed it is assessing the complaint according to standard regulatory procedures.
