Alibaba introduced the Zhenwu M890 artificial intelligence processor for AI training and inference. The new chip delivers three times the performance of its predecessor, the Zhenwu 810E. Its architecture supports complex agentic AI workloads requiring large memory and high-speed communication for context retention.
The launch advances Alibaba's strategy to build a comprehensive in-house AI technology stack. Scaling internal chip deployment aims to improve cost-effectiveness and profit margins for the cloud division. This move also supports China's national goal of achieving greater semiconductor self-sufficiency.
