Alibaba’s research arm, DAMO Academy, introduced a high-performance chip at the XuanTie RISC-V Ecosystem Conference in Shanghai. The hardware is designed to meet the increasing computing demands of AI Agent applications. This development follows the release of the company's first server-grade RISC-V CPU last year.

Alibaba is accelerating its AI and cloud strategy despite a sharp decline in overall profitability caused by heavy investments. The company's cloud segment recently reported a 36% year-over-year revenue increase.

Management targets over $100 billion in revenue from AI and cloud businesses within the next five years. This new chip reinforces Alibaba's focus on these high-growth sectors.
