Baidu debuts Wenxin 5.1 AI model, cutting pre-training costs to 6%

Baidu officially launched Wenxin 5.1, its new-generation foundational AI model, on May 9, 2026. The model utilizes multi-dimensional elastic pre-training technology.

This technology enables the model to achieve leading foundational performance. It requires only 6% of the pre-training cost compared to industry models of a similar scale.
