Baidu launched its Apollo Go robotaxi service commercially in Abu Dhabi. This represents the company's first fully autonomous ride-hailing service outside of China.
The service is now open to the public. Operations began on Yas Island. Baidu plans a phased rollout to other parts of the emirate later in 2026.
Following the announcement, Baidu shares climbed 1-2% in Hong Kong trading. Analysts note the immediate financial impact will not be substantial.
Analysts view the international expansion as crucial for strengthening investor confidence in Baidu’s AI capabilities and long-term growth in autonomous driving.
