China’s commerce ministry expressed firm opposition on Saturday to the U.S. Department of Defense including Baidu and other technology firms on a military-linked list. The ministry urged the United States to cease these practices and immediately withdraw the measures.

The updated Pentagon list identifies several major Chinese technology companies as allegedly aiding the Chinese military.

Baidu responded to the designation on June 9, stating it is not a military company and that no justification exists for its inclusion. The company clarified that the designation is not a sanctions list and does not currently restrict the trading of its securities.
