Baidu’s Apollo Go robotaxi service suffered a large-scale system failure in Wuhan on March 31, 2026. Numerous autonomous vehicles stopped abruptly on city streets and highways during the evening.

Passengers remained trapped in non-responsive vehicles for nearly two hours on elevated roadways. In-car emergency assistance buttons failed to function during the outage.

Wuhan police and Baidu staff coordinated to evacuate passengers safely. No injuries were reported from the incident.

Traffic authorities attributed the event to a system fault. Apollo Go customer service cited network problems as the primary cause.

Service has resumed across the city. Baidu has not yet issued an official statement regarding the malfunction.
