BlackSky Technology (NYSE: BKSY) secured the exclusive contract to provide very high-resolution electro-optical satellites for a new 50-satellite constellation.
A consortium including Marlan Space, Loft Orbital, and Mistral AI is backing the project with a $1 billion investment. France and the United Arab Emirates are providing additional support for the initiative.
French President Emmanuel Macron attended the announcement at the International Space Summit in Paris. BlackSky’s Gen-3 satellites will serve as the optical layer for the AI-enabled system.
The system provides real-time intelligence for users across France, Europe, and the UAE. While the specific financial value of BlackSky’s role remains undisclosed, more details are expected later this year.
