McLane Company, a Berkshire Hathaway subsidiary, signed an agreement with Aurora Innovation to deploy driverless trucks for commercial hauls in Texas. The partnership uses Aurora’s SAE L4 self-driving system to transport supplies and perishable goods. These shipments serve McLane’s clients, including major chain restaurants and convenience stores.

This expansion follows a 2023 pilot program where Aurora’s autonomous trucks delivered 1,400 loads for McLane. The pilot achieved a 100% on-time performance rate.

Initial driverless routes will run between Dallas and Houston. McLane plans to expand these operations across the U.S. Sun Belt by the end of 2024. The initiative aims to modernize the national food supply chain.
