Cameco temporarily suspended production at its Cigar Lake uranium mine in northern Saskatchewan.
The shutdown follows operational issues at Orano’s McClean Lake mill, which processes all ore from the site. A malfunction in the mill's sulfuric acid plant required an immediate shutdown for repairs.
Cigar Lake halted mining activities because the facility has limited capacity for ore storage. Management expects the mill to remain offline for approximately two weeks.
The disruption currently does not affect Cameco’s 2026 production outlook. Guidance remains subject to change if repairs or the return to mining exceed the planned timeline.
