CIMB Group Holdings Berhad posted a net profit of RM1.91 billion for the first quarter of 2026.
This profit represents a 2.9% decrease year-over-year. The bank earned RM1.97 billion in the prior-year period.
Net interest margin (NIM) compression and foreign exchange headwinds drove the profit decline.
Quarterly revenue fell to RM5.41 billion. Previous revenue stood at RM5.5 billion.
Non-interest income rose 11.9% quarter-over-quarter. Trading and foreign exchange gains drove this growth.
Management noted early signs of NIM stabilization. Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand showed NIM improvements.
The group improved its cost-to-income ratio while maintaining asset quality. CIMB remains cautiously optimistic about its performance.
